Repair of the Atlantic Boulevard Bridge begins on Monday

Coral Springs, Florida – On Monday, the Broward County-owned bridge on Atlantic Boulevard crossing the East Outfall Canal in Coral Springs will undergo extensive bridge rehabilitation work by the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD).
Barring unforeseen circumstances and weather delays, the work will start on October 24, 2022, and end in March 2023.
The Florida Department of Transportation’s suggested repairs will improve the longevity of the bridge’s structure by utilizing a cutting-edge deck-strengthening design and construction technique created by HBMD. This technique, developed by HBMD, reduces traffic delays by focusing primarily on the underside of the bridge.
For less than a month, lanes will be closed so that the bridge deck can be waterproofed and resurfaced. There will always be at least one lane open in each direction. There will be no disruption to walkways, businesses, or homes. There will be several signs put up to alert drivers and pedestrians.
Contact information for the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division is 954-357-6040. Contact Felix Garcia, the project’s manager, at 954-895-8535 or fegarcia@broward.org.
