Coming to Coral Springs: Shrek the Musical
Coral Springs, Florida – On February 22, 23, and 24, the popular musical will be performed by the Coral Springs High School Drama program. This show involves about fifty drama students, many of whom have performed in the past.
Director Barbara Krantz claims that the musical Shrek is comparable to the same-titled movie. The play narrates the tale of Shrek, a lone man living in a swamp and shunned by society because of his strange looks. When a cast of figures from fairy tales shows up on his land one day, he needs to decide how to handle them. Eventually, as the narrative goes on, Shrek develops feelings for a princess.
According to Krantz, the kids designed the set for this musical, which features a lot of singing and dance sequences.
“Our leads have been acting all four years here, and they have worked hard to put on this musical. This is going to be an exciting show,” said Krantz.
Shrek (Tajdel Bruneus), Lord Farquaad (Tristan Chung), Fiona (Angelina Nazar), and Donkey (Sean Jenkins) are the main characters.
Jenkins plays Donkey and has been in productions at Coral Springs High for four years. Natalie Henry, who plays Pinocchio, said, “I have been in drama for four years, and for me, it is home.”
The play will be performed on Thursday, February 22, Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24, at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the Coral Springs High School auditorium.
Children under five enter free of charge; general entry is $15; students with valid ID and senior people pay $12.
“This play shows us that it is OK to be different,” Kranztz remarked.
