Pizza of Italy in Coral Springs
Coral Springs, Florida – A new Italian restaurant, offering wood-fired pizza, pasta, and more opens in Coral Springs.
Osteria Mazzi is named after Florence-born Stefano Mazzi. He came in California 20 years ago, where he started his first restaurant.
After ten years, he moved to Aventura and founded Mazzi Cucina, Cacio e Peppe, and My Way Italian Steakhouse in North Miami Beach.
After visiting a friend in Coral Springs, Mazzi decided to open Osteria Mazzi when he could not find a pizza place he liked. It was then he realized it was time to open his pizza shop. “I like eating pizza, and none of my current restaurants have a pizza oven. Then I thought, well, let me open a pizza place here in Coral Springs,” said Mazzi.
His restaurant features a cutting-edge wood-fired oven called the Vulcan de Oro. “The oven was brought from Naples and strategically placed so customers can see the chef making the pizzas. It is one of the best,” he said.
Open only for one week; Osteria Mazzi already has some customers satisfied with the service and the pizza taste so much that they have come multiple times. “The pizza is very delicious. You can feel the difference from other pizzas made with traditional ovens. The owner is friendly and cares for his customers,” Fort Lauderdale resident Maria Torres told Coral Springs Talk.
Its menu offers traditional appetizers such as zucchini flowers ($18), beef carpaccio ($18), octopus and potatoes ($26), and tagliere misto for two that includes traditional Italian cheeses and meats ($32).
As a main dish, it offers several styles of pizzas, such as Margherita pizza ($18), cheese pizza ($18), Prosciutto e Rucola pizza ($25), and pepperoni pizza ($21), and four formaggi pizza ($24).
The Prosciutto e Rucola is made with mozzarella cheese, san marzano tomatoes, arugula, prosciutto parma, and shaved Parmesan. The freshly made pizza had the crispy texture known from wood-fire cooked pizza and had a nice balance of flavors.
For fans of pasta, the restaurant offers dishes such as cacio e pepe ($23), penne alla vodka ($23), risotto arborio ($25), and tagliolini with crab ($26).
For customers who prefer a main course meal, the business offers branzino of the day ($38), cotoletta alla milanese ($29), pollo al mattone ($26) and tagliatta fiorentina ($42).
Osteria Mazzi is located at 2047 N University Dr in Coral Springs.
