A man from Coral Springs was arrested for allegedly plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange

Coral Springs, Florida – According to leaked documents, a guy from Coral Springs was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of plotting to attack the New York Stock Exchange in order to “reset” the U.S. government.
Following an FBI investigation that revealed his purported plans to bomb a “building used in interstate or foreign commerce” in New York during Thanksgiving week, 30-year-old Harun Abdul-Malik Yener was taken into custody on Wednesday. According to federal authorities, Yener planned to use the attack to force a “reboot” or “reset” of the government.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Markenzy Lapointe, Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew G. Olsen, and FBI Miami Field Office Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey Veltri made the statement.
The FBI started looking into Yener in February after getting a tip regarding bombmaking plans kept in an unlocked storage container, according to court filings.
Circuit boards, electronic timers, designs of explosives, and other parts that might be used to make bombs were among the many items found during a search of the unit.
On Yener’s Google account, investigators also discovered years’ worth of searches for bombmaking methods beginning in 2017.
Yener declared his intention to join an anti-government militia in June and started discussing his intentions with an FBI undercover agent he thought was a militia member.
According to the authorities, he intentionally chose a well-known company in New York City as his target and started making preparations for the assault, including learning where to plant the bomb and how to blend in.
Yener is accused of building a remote trigger for the device and assigning FBI agents to gather explosives, monitor the company, and supply images to complete the scheme.
According to reports, he compared the anticipated impact to “a small nuke” that might destroy everything and everyone in the vicinity.
According to authorities, Yener also planned to disguise himself while executing the operation and recorded a statement for the media outlining his motivations for the attack.
Before the plan could be carried out, Yener was taken into custody. He consented to stay in custody pending a pretrial detention hearing, which he may request later, at his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
The investigation was carried out by the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Coral Springs Police Department, and the FBI.
