Chabad of Coral Springs invites public to light 12-foot-tall menorah
Coral Springs, Florida – Chabad of Coral Springs is celebrating the 7th night of Hanukkah with a 12-foot menorah lighting, part of the worldwide Hanukkah campaign — an initiative launched by the late Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson in 1973.
According to Chaya Mushka Yaras, Chabad of Coral Springs co-director, the menorah represents light and goodness for everyone, and the message is not exclusively for the Jewish community; it is universal.
“It is our job in the world to spread happiness and peace to all around us. Menorah is a way to recognize those values and bring light to the city. It’s outside on the streets, for everyone to see and be inspired by,” she said, adding that Chabad is proud and grateful to the city for allowing the Jewish community to remind people how important and powerful this message is.
Social services director, Nachama Natalie Gutman, has worked with city officials for the last four years to approve the tall menorahs for Hanukkah celebrations and involve the community in Chabad events.
“Natalie has really made it her mission to have the city embrace the Jewish community and show solidarity by having the menorah displayed during the holidays. She wants to spread the light in the world,” said Yaras.
The public is invited to menorah-lighting at the Art Walk on Dec. 4. The event starts at 7.45 p.m. at NW 31st Court.
Organizers will distribute free Chanukah gelt and dreidels.
