City Distributes 350 Thanksgiving Turkeys to Coral Springs Residents in Need

Coral Springs, Florida – As the COVID-19 pandemic has forced thousands of South Floridians out of work, local organizations are trying to keep up with the demand for food relief.

Thanks to Coral Springs city employees, volunteers, and the commission, Thanksgiving dinner was covered for several hundred families last weekend after the distribution of 350 turkeys — including the fixings.

Now in their 32nd year, the Coral Springs Police Community Involvement Unit identifies families in need on Thanksgiving, who are then given a voucher to participate.

The families are identified through school resource officers, counselors, victim advocates, clergy coalition, and committee members.

The Chabad of Coral Springs and First Church continue to provide food distributions each week. First Church continues after Thanksgiving weekend.
