Coral Glades boys soccer advances to the regional championships

Coral Springs, Florida – One soccer team from Coral Springs made it to the Regionals, however none of the teams won District titles.

The seventh-seeded Coral Glades boys soccer team lost 5-1 to Christopher Columbus High School on Tuesday in their quarterfinal matchup. Prior to falling to Boca Raton Community High School on penalty kicks in the District Semifinals, the Jaguars had a 13-4-2 record.

Theo Helman, Domingues De Oliveiraaden Lloyd, Santiago Sanchez, Eiren Villafuerte, Cameron St. Hilaaire, Aaden Clark, and Christian Wallace led the team in goals, with Leonard Frandi coming in second. One goal was scored by Noah Cianciulli, Laureano Cordero, Jonathan Herrera, Julian Roman, Zidaan Williams, and Caleb Tomlin. This year, Tomlin, Lucas Betancur, Wallace, Lucca Rabaiotti, Leonhard Brandi, and Williams will all graduate.

After defeating Deerfield Beach and Piper High Schools, the Coral Springs High School girls soccer team advanced to the District Final but lost 1-0 in overtime against Fort Lauderdale High School. After a 5-12-1 season, the Colts were eliminated from the Regionals.

Kayla Hillard and Kylie Lum both scored three goals, but Jaylene Rodriguez topped the squad with five. Gabriel Castillo and Dominque Roccia both scored once, while Eliana Cassara added two goals. Castillo, Abigail Matis, Melanie Sola, Roccia, and Gabriella Stubblefield are the five seniors who will graduate this year.

Additionally, the Coral Springs Charter girls’ soccer team lost to Cardinal Gibbons High School in the District Semifinals. The Panthers did not make it to the Regionals, even though they ended the season 13-5-2. They had already defeated Frankie Academy 8-0 in the first round.

This year, Katianna Grace, Abigail Foster, Maria Rojas, and Marissa Miciono are scheduled to graduate. Earlier in the postseason, the Coral Springs Charter boys’ soccer team, the Coral Springs High School boys’ soccer team, and J.P. Taravella’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams were eliminated.
