Golfers at Coral Glades High School were “psyched” when a donor gave them stylish team bags

Coral Springs, Florida – The golfers at Coral Glades High School have some brand-new gear because of a local father who supports the team.
Personalized golf bags were given to the seven coed golf team members on Monday by SEI Miami, a business and technology consulting company run by Coral Springs native David Ortiz. Sebastian Ortiz is a junior at Coral Glades University, where he is participating in his first year of golf. He informed his father that the team had been attempting for a number of years to purchase team bags to carry their clubs, but money was a problem.
Thus, David Ortiz and his business bought the chic gear, which has the names of the players, the school, the Jaguar logo, and Ortiz’s business on it. The combined value of the seven bags is approximately $2,000.
At a team meeting that Coral Glades golf coach Tim DeLeeuw organized at the Country Club of Coral Springs, where the team practices, Ortiz surprised the players with their new gear on Monday.
David Ortiz’s kindness “floored me,” according to DeLeeuw.
At Nova High School in Davie, the businessman played football and baseball. He described the donation as “an easy opportunity to make sure that the golf team was put on the same pedestal as everyone else” who participated in other sports.
“Our goal is to ensure that every boy and girl has the best resources possible and that they arrive at school equipped with the necessary gear,” 45-year-old Ortiz stated. “I’m so happy to be doing this for the kids,”
While Coral Glades team members carried whatever bags they could secure on their own, other golf teams have been showing up to events with sleek-looking team bags.
According to DeLeeuw, the team’s members are playing golf with newfound purpose and confidence thanks to their new equipment.
The first-year coach, who also teaches English language arts at Coral Glades, claimed that “the kids went crazy when they saw the bags.” “They feel completely united and look amazing with the equipment.”
According to DeLeeuw, the team did well on Wednesday in their first competition wearing their new gear.
Receiving the bags made them very excited. They are prepared to go.
Under previous head coach Jarrod Transue, the Jaguars golf team earned its first district championship in school history in 2023.
