Coral Springs, Florida – While lighting fireworks in Coral Springs on the Fourth of July, a man badly injured his hand.
According to a police report, William Wright was rushed into surgery at Broward Health North after the accident at his home on NW 14 Street shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday.
A witness told police he and Wright created custom fireworks show that was set up electronically and on timers to go off through an application on his phone, the report said. At the end of the show, Wright lit a manual firework, and it blew up in his hand, the witness told police.
After that, Wright ran to the street in front of his home and said: “I think I blew my hand off, call 911 and get a tourniquet,” the witness told police, the report said.
According to a police report, once police and paramedics showed up, Wright was taken to the hospital as a trauma case and rushed into surgery.
At this time, his condition could not be determined.
