One person hospitalized after shooting at Publix in Hollywood

Hollywood, Florida – Following a shooting at a Publix supermarket in Hollywood involving a security guard at the store, rescue crews have taken a man to the hospital.
A heavy police presence was noticed outside of the grocery store located off Tyler Street, at around 11 p.m., Friday.
According to witnesses, an aggressive man was trying to get into the supermarket after it had closed, just after 10 p.m, and a security guard discharged a firearm in the lobby, striking him.
The security guard is the shooter in the incident, investigators confirmed.
Nar the entrance, cellphone video recorded by witnesses captured the man lying on the floor inside the store.
The victim was familiar to the security guard and they were involved in a physical altercation just prior to the shooting, according to investigators.
The victim was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The security guard is OK and cooperating with the police, who have custody of the gun.
An investigation is underway.
