Royal Showdown awaits at Coral Springs Chess Tournament June 1

Coral Springs, Florida – At 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, local chess players will engage in a regal contest at the King of Coral Springs Chess Tournament.
This yearly occasion is held at Coral Springs Charter School, 3205 N. University Dr., and is sponsored by the Coral Springs Parks and Recreation Department.
There are two age groups in the tournament: Middle and High School (Ages 12–18) and Elementary School (Ages 5–11). The competition will follow US Chess Federation regulations in collaboration with the National Scholastic Chess Foundation (NSCF), albeit without Federation rating.
Notation is necessary at all NSCF events, and score sheets are available, in keeping with the educational benefits of chess. Although they are not required, referees may use clocks if a match is getting close to its allotted time.
The King of Chess competition is free to enter, but all players must register in advance. Students participating in the event will get lunch. The matches will start at 9 a.m. sharp, with check-in taking place from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
