Shooting and crash in Miami-Dade, one woman is dead
Miami-Dade County, Florida – After being blocked for several hours Monday as police investigated a crash and shooting that left one woman dead, northbound lanes of I-95 near the exit to Northwest 103rd Street have reopened.
The crash involving two vehicles happened at about 3:30 a.m. in those northbound lanes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A woman was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, where she died from her injuries.
According to Miami-Dade police, in addition to the crash, the woman’s vehicle was riddled with bullet holes. Whether she died as a result of the shooting or the crash is not known, nor is a motive for the gunfire.
According to detectives, the other car involved in the crash fled the area.
As drivers sat in traffic that was backed up for miles, homicide investigators carefully combed that stretch of I-95 in hopes of finding clues that will shed some light on what led up to the death of the woman.
Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers asks anyone having any information that can help detectives, to call at 305-471-8477.
