Sweetwater, Florida – Maintaining the South Florida custom of ensuring pupils are appropriately attired for academic performance. Free school supplies are one way this is provided.

On Wednesday, Rachel Saiger, a volunteer with Style Saves, inspected merchandise at a Sweetwater warehouse in preparation for their 14th Annual Back-to-School Event.

“We have about 300 pallets in total, which is about enough items for 20,000 students,” Saiger said.

Just in time for the start of the new school year, all of the things will be distributed on August 10 and 11 at the Miami Convention Center, along with shoes, backpacks, and school supplies.
In addition, there will be bouncy houses, haircuts, and other activities.

“Everything is brand new, it’s the best quality and, you know, we just do our best to give the kids everything that they need for the school year,” Saiger said.

Style Saves encourages students and families to register in advance on their website to be eligible to win hundreds of back-to-school supplies. The greatest thing is that registration is completely free.

“We know how hard it is for families, especially now, not everyone’s working, There’s a lot of undocumented immigrants and migrants that we’re focusing on, a lot of homeless students, foster care kids, you know, that might not otherwise have the means to get these items,” Saiger said.

Over the years, Style Saves has assisted thousands of South Florida families and children with numerous community activities and initiatives.

This year, they hope to reach an additional 50,000 children in order to make sure that impoverished youth in South Florida are inspired and prepared to learn as the new year begins.

“You know how important it is to feel good about yourself, and if you have confidence, if you have, you know, equal opportunity, and you feel and look as good as all of your peers, you’re going to succeed academically,” Saiger said.

Style Saves is dedicated to interacting with the leaders of tomorrow, and it bases this on the fundamental idea that good deeds can be done through fashion.

“It’s not just about making them feel good, ’cause that is a big part of it, but also helping the families that might not ever otherwise be able to provide for their kids,” Saiger said.
