After eight years, Coral Springs coffee shop “Lady and the Mug” will close

Coral Springs, Florida – On April 19, the eight-year-old coffee establishment Lady and the Mug in Coral Springs will close, according to owner Aimee Tarte.
Tarte, whose lease is set to expire at the end of May, has chosen not to renew it for her property at 3111 N University Drive. Her main justification for the shutdown was ongoing problems with tenants, she said.
“I’m hanging on to give my staff an opportunity to get unemployment,” Tarte told Coral Springs Talk.
Despite being able to ask for a three-year lease extension, she chose to close early, even at the cost of losing her deposit. “After eight years, I’m going to shut my doors. Per my lease, I have to be open until the end of May,” she said.
Tarte, who also owns a shop in Tampa, says that even though her leasing agreement explicitly states that she is in charge of pest control, regular treatments have made it too expensive to continue operations.
In addition, Tarte disclosed that she would be giving away free coffee on the last day of the shop as a way to thank her patrons.
