Broward County, Florida According to administrators, Hurricane Ian has forced the closure of all courses at Broward County Public Schools on Wednesday and Thursday.

Field trips, night classes, and aftercare are among the extracurricular activities that have been postponed before and after school.

Tuesday’s regular school day was chosen by the district. However, all extracurricular events, field trips, and evening sessions were postponed. Parents and guardians were urged by administrators to pick up their children as quickly as possible from after-school care.

“The district continues to work closely with emergency management officials to monitor the approaching storm and its impact on Broward County,” said Superintendent Vickie Cartwright. “As it relates to our operations on Thursday and Friday, we will provide an update as soon as possible through our regular communication channels and social media pages on Twitter and Facebook.”

As a strong Category 3 hurricane, Ian is expected to make landfall Wednesday along the gulf coast of Florida. South Florida is anticipated to experience wind and rain.
