The boys chorus at Forest Glen Middle School consistently receives superior ratings
Coral Springs, Florida – The chorus program at Forest Glen Middle School keeps winning awards.
The Boys’ Chorus at Dillard Performing Arts High School received straight superior ratings on March 6th, the highest possible score, in the Music Performance Assessment (MPA). The Beginning Chorus received flawless superior marks, and the Girls’ Chorus received excellent ratings with a superior sight reading.
The choral program’s director, Dr. Anthony Zoeller, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes and gave the students credit for their hard work. The lads received straight superior ratings for the fourth year in a row this year. The chorus program includes 156 vocalists in all.
After performing two songs, each choir was judged on its technical proficiency, musical impact, and tone quality. Following their performance, they were evaluated on sight reading in a room off-stage.
According to Zoeller, a positive and caring atmosphere is important to a chorus’s success. “Boys are not always comfortable singing. I have created an environment that allows the students to express themselves.”
In his twelfth year at Forest Glen, Zoeller thinks it’s critical to demonstrate his concern for the pupils, but he also thinks that strong standards should be imposed. “I believe successful teaching means setting high standards and providing a high level of support. I want students to feel they belong in the chorus classroom,” he said.
After their performance at Disney Springs on May 30, the Boy’s and Girl’s Chorus will go to EPCOT.
“I believe it’s important to establish a space where children feel free to express themselves. I agree with them. I have high standards for them and I care about them.
On May 30, they will have a performance at Disney Springs and then spend the day at Disney World’s Epcot.
